After all the offseason rumors of the Lakers looking to trade Russell Westbrook and even hearing that no one inside the locker room and front office wanted him, suddenly the table was turned, and now Russ is getting support from every Lakers front.
First, Lakers Coach Darvin Ham stated that he wanted to use Westbrook in his lineup and that he would bring value. Then, LeBron James showed support using his social media, which was a strong move after reporting that James, alongside Anthony Davis, wanted Russ out of the team.
And then the recently signed guard Patrick Beverly, known as Westbrook's nemesis, also shows Russ support on social media. And after yesterday's press conference with everything looking smooth after weeks of everything wrong in the lakers.
This is starting to feel like a master plan and marketing strategy from the Los Angeles Lakers owner Jeanie Buss and General Manager Rob Pelinka to increase Russell Westbrook's value and get to trade him as soon as possible. Buss recently stated that Westbrook was consistent last season and would be a good asset for next season.
Even with the Lakers making all of the efforts to publicly back Russell Westbrook, he could change teams soon, and one of the best fits for him would be the Miami Heat. Thanks to Westbrook's defensive play, Russ playing for the Heat could benefit both sides.
