The Lakers have been very quiet in the last couple of months when they should've been very aggressive. The team finished last season with a mediocre record of 33-49, which made them miss the playoffs for the second time in the last four years. They added Patrick Beverley, but that might not be enough. According to NBA analyst, Shannon Sharpe, they should just trade Russell Westbrook to Indiana.
There's been a rumor that the Lakers would trade Russell Westbrook to the Pacers alongside one or two first-round picks in exchange for Myles Turner and Buddy Hield. According to Sharpe, this could be a great move. "You kill three birds with one stone. You get off Russ, you get shooting, and you get defense. I think it would be a great situation."
This is it for Russell Westbrook. He is out of the league
Jeanie Buss believed "changes needed to be made" for next season
"It would address two needs for the Los Angeles Lakers, which are shooting and defense. Myles Turner is a tremendous rim protector, he can knock down three. ... He led the league in blocked shots. He can probably get you 12 and 10. Buddy Hield provides 3-point shooting and the shooting that the Lakers so desperately need," concluded the Undisputed co-host.
Now the Lakers missed a possible trade with the Utah Jazz in exchange for Donovan Mitchell as he was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers. It's now or never for the Lakers if they want to be a competitive team in the upcoming season.
As days pass by and there's no movement by the Lakers, it seems that they are rolling with the former MVP for the upcoming season and maybe make a trade during the season. But for now, Westbrook is a Lakers player.
