While the LA Lakers aren't as high in the Western Conference as they intended at the start of the season, the team has gained momentum after winning six of their last 7 games with the only loss being against the NBA reigning champions the Denver Nuggets and without one of their best players, D'Angelo Russell.

Now that we are 56 games into the season, the LA Lakers are in the 9th seed but gaining traction as they have started to build a winning record and will be looking to be over .500 for the rest of the regular campaign to pursue the playoffs.

The purple and gold now have a 30-26 record with .536 in the 9th seed under the Timberwolves, OKC, Clippers, Nuggets, Suns, Pelicans, Mavericks, and Kings.

The Lakers are over the Warriors, Jazz, Rockets, Grizzlies, Trail Blazers and the Spurs. The good news for LA is that now they have gained momentum and have won some key games even with many players being injured and in some contests having played without some of their superstars. LA is now heading to the NBA All-Star break with a 3-game winning streak.

The Lakers' starting five had a great night vs. Utah

Anthony Davis led the way with 37 pts, 15 rebs, 1 assist, 2 blocks. Rui Hachimura had a career-high 36 pts, 2 rebs, 1 assist, 1 blk. Austin Reaves gave another solid performance with 22 pts, 4 rebs, 7 assists, 3 steals. D'Lo scored 11 pts, and 9 rebs, but had a career-high 17 assists with 1 steal. Taurean Prince scored 11 points, 3 rebs, 1 assist and 1 block.
