Ever since the Russell Westbrook fiasco with the Los Angeles Lakers, the team has been looking to land a third superstar but hasn't been able to do so, it seems that this upcoming offseason will finally be it as recently revealed by ESPN's Kendrick Perkins.

Before Perkins revealed that news, without a name, there were three All-Star caliber players linked to LA as the team stood pat in the trade deadline to have 3 first-round picks available in the summer to use for a trade.

They are going to try again this offseason with Trae Young, Donovan Mitchell, and an unsurprising third option in Dallas Mavericks star Kyrie Irving, all of them, linked to the team in previous years, according to 3 NBA insiders, Sam Amick, Anthony Slater and Jovan Buha of The Athletic:

"The Lakers plan to continue their quest for a third star this summer, armed with as many as three first-round picks, four pick swaps, and multiple second-round picks to make a compelling offer for any available star. According to team sources, the organization has discussed three names internally: Trae Young, Donovan Mitchell and Irving."

Why landing one of these 3 players will go better than with Westbrook

This third-star experiment, with one of these three stars, would go infinitely better than the Westbrook era. All three of these players are elite shooters and would add another dimension to a Lakers offense that has already been elite in recent weeks.
