Coach Darvin Ham wasn't able to start the NBA 2023-24 season with the same starting lineup he used at the end of the previous campaign and the 2023 playoffs, particularly because of the absence of wing Jarred Vanderbilt who due to a left calf injury missed the first 20 games of the season.
Vanderbilt was back but due to the injury, he was far from what he showed he was capable of doing after his last season great performances. The wing was still recovering and finding his rhythm, it seems that in the latest contests, he is back to be his former self before the injury.
Vando scored 17 points in 27 minutes of playing time, shooting 8/11 FG, 1/1 3PT, 5 rebounds, 3 steals, and 1 block to show he can be helpful on both sides of the court for the Los Angeles Lakers.
In the post-game interview, LeBron James opened up about being glad to have last season's Jarred Vanderbilt back: "I mean, it's the Vando we grew accustomed to when we got him last year, and obviously, the injuries put a hurting on him early in the season, but he's getting back into form, and that's the Vando we've been missing."
After his outstanding performance vs. the Chicago Bulls, D'Angelo Russell spoke to the press to show some love to his teammate Jarred Vanderbilt: "How about Vando tonight? Y'all gotta talk about Vando. Whatever y'all tweet, make sure you give Vando some love."
