After some terrible years for the Lakers, taking aside the 2020 NBA championship title for the franchise, GM Rob Pelinka wasn't in the best place with the fans, but it seems that after the last season before the trade deadline moves and his current work in the 2023 offseason, has turned things around.

The Lakers started the 2022-23 season with more doubts than certainties, including the Russell Westbrook dilemma of not finding him another team or an ideal role with the team. All of that changed after Pelinka made the trade that saves the Lakers last season by exchanging the PG for D'Angelo Russell, Jarred Vanderbilt, and Malik Beasley.

It wasn't the only move made by Pelinka that helped to shake things on the roster and the team was able to make it to the Western Conference Finals. The team was swept but Pelinka learned and decided to bring back the core of that roster and build from that. The GM made some interesting signings this offseason that make the team look like an improved version of the previous campaign.

One writer from the Bleacher Report, Greg Swartz, believes Pelinka has vindicated himself with the latest LA moves “Adding Gabe Vincent, Taurean Prince, Cam Reddish, Jaxson Hayes and re-signing D'Angelo Russell made for a terrific offseason overall and helped vindicate Pelinka after his prior mistakes.”

Even when players like Lonnie Walker and Dennis Schröder left the team, Pelinka was able to bring interesting and talented names that could help LA big time in their pursuit of a new championship title. The GM signed Gabe Vincent, Cam Reddish, Taurean Prince, and Jaxson Hayes, besides the key re-signings of Reaves, Hachimura, and D-Lo. Also, the Lakers have five new rookies that are looking to be interesting promises for the future of the team.
