The debate about the NBA's greatest player ever will never stop. For many people, the debate is between two players, Michael Jordan and LeBron James. However, there are some people that believe that James doesn't belong in the same discussion with Jordan. Now, during an appearance on First Take, Chris Russo gave his top 5 players in NBA history, and did not add the highest-earning player in NBA history, LeBron James.

LeBron James is on his way to breaking the all-time scoring record this season. So far, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has had the record for over 30 years. Now, before the end of the season, the ‘King’ will hold the new record. He also has a lot of achievements, especially in the playoffs. He has the most wins in the postseason in the league's history. Plus, he leads the in four more categories in the playoffs.  He is the only player with 30.000 points, 10.000 rebounds and 10.000 assists.

Giannis Antetokounmpo asks LeBron James for some advice

During his appearance, the NBA analyst, Chris Russo explained that, “He's no better than Jordan, he's no better than Kareem and Russell won 11 in 13 years…I'll take Magic and Bird, so that makes him fifth”. commented Russo over a heated debate with First Take host Stephen A. smith. The radio personality continued to argue that he would take either of the players he mentioned in the last shot, win or lose situation over the King.

Now LeBron James has signed a two-year extension with the Los Angeles Lakers. The deal that will have him play until he reaches the 40-year mark will give him a $97 million guarantee. This amount of money will help him surpass Kevin Durant as the highest-earning player in NBA history with a $530 million guarantee over his whole career. Now he will have to show the Lakers they made the right decision by leading the team to another playoff appearance.

Is LeBron a top 3 Lakers player?

The discussion about whether LeBron James is the best player ever will continue until the end of time, or until someone surpasses him and Jordan. Still, something is certain, LeBron James is not a top 3 Lakers player. Although LeBron has already given the Lakers a championship, he can not compete with the likes of Magic, Shaq, Kobe, Kareem or Wilt.
