From the get-go, the Team USA roster was heavily criticized, as the roster was called to be extremely young and inexperienced in international play. The expectations were low for fans going into the tournament.

But expectations were rising with each game Team USA won, until the team lost against Germany in the Semifinals, then the fatal blow came when Canada upset USA in their game for the bronze medal.

However, the failure, of the Lakers guard Austin Reaves was one of the bright spots throughout the whole World Cup, despite the noise made by some detractors. Now that Reaves has returned, the Lakers guard was asked about the loss against Canada.

The Lakers reporter Mike Trudell asked Austin Reaves about the loss to Canada and Reaves' answer was short: "Not good enough, we lost, so that's the moral of the day. It's not good enough."

Austin Reaves wasn't the player to be blamed for the dissapointing outcome

It was a rough last two games for Team USA and to leave with no medal is disappointing due to the standards that the program has. But, the focus now is the 2024 Olympics to hopefully win gold next summer. Regardless though, the World Cup continued to show how great of a player Reaves is and what he is truly capable of moving forward.
