The LA Lakers governor and owner Jeanie Buss made an announcement that has divided the Lakers fandom on which number should be hanging in the rafters

It seems that there are two sides to the current Lakers fandom with the most recent news revealed. The purple and gold governor and owner Jeanie Buss has delighted the fans today.

It has been announced that once LeBron James retires, the LA franchise will be retiring his jersey number into the rafters to join the other great legends of the team.

The fans are split on which number should be retired, the number 23 which LeBron James wore to win the franchise's 17th championship title, or the number 6, which LeBron used when broke the all-time scoring record.

It will seem that 23 will be the number to be retired, as LeBron will be back at it in honor of the great late Bill Russell. James also could win another title with the 23 as there are still some years away from his retirement.

Why did Jeanie Buss decide to retire LeBron James' jersey number?

Buss said that the standard to decide if a Laker should have their number retired is if they make it into the Hall of Fame. LeBron is a lock into that, so it was a no-brainer for Jeanie, as she also already believes the Lakers star is one of the most influential players in the team of all time.
