The Los Angeles Lakers are getting ready for the next season, and while they brought the core back from the latest tournament, they also made some interesting signings, and now a recent report has surprised with some of the big names, Pelinka pursued.

Kyrie Irving was a name that was immediately rumored for the Lakers to sign after getting eliminated in the WCF series vs. the Nuggets, but that didn't pan out for the Lakers and reports suggested that the front office wasn't interested in the Mavs PG.

A recent report by the NBA insider Jovan Buha has the Lakers showing interest in Kyrie Irving, mostly because their star LeBron James wanted him. But Irving wasn't the only one the Lakers GM Rob Pelinka pursued this offseason.

Damian Lillard, Kyle Lowry and most significantly Trae Young were the superstars the Lakers showed interest in signing. Jovan Buha wrote, “Trae Young has long been on Los Angeles’ radar, depending on how his situation unfolds in Atlanta."

The Lakers went with D'Angelo Russell and Gabe Vincent instead

In the end, the Lakers didn't go for a big name, instead, they re-signed D'Angelo Russell to give him another opportunity with a two-year 37 million deal while also signing the PG Gabe Vincent, who just played in the NBA Finals with the Miami Heat, for a three year 33 million deal.
