It makes sense that when it's time to pick who you believe is the best at something, you usually choose the person or people that you know the most, in the case of choosing the NBA GOAT, players, and former players go for the era that they have played.

In that context, Charles Barkley has talked about who he believes is the actual GOAT and his answer is clear, Michael Jordan, because he saw him play.

“I love LeBron,” Chuck said. “I love LeBron. But most of these people who are defending him as the greatest ever probably have never actually seen Michael Jordan play.

The closest they’ve come is that documentary that came out, ‘The Last Dance.’ But they ain’t never seen Michael Jordan play.” For Charles, people who say LeBron is the best are because they didn't see MJ played.

Charles Barkley never played against or with LeBron James

He and James never overlapped as players in the NBA, with Jordan playing his final season for the Washington Wizards in the 2002-03 campaign, right before James debuted in the 2003-04 season with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
