D'Angelo Russell was one of the main signings in the last season's trade deadline that helped to course correct the campaign after a rocky start to become the 7th seed and had the play-in game to later advance to the playoffs.

Russell had a terrific second stint with the purple and gold, especially at the end of the regular season, but his performances in the postseason run for the team made him a question mark for the front office at the start of the offseason.

Still, GM Rob Pelinka and HC Darvin Ham decided to bring him back by signing him to a two-year contract for 37 million. D-Lo is set to be the starter but with the new addition of Gabe Vincent to the roster, there will be a battle for that role.

D-Lo believes his love for passing can make him the starter: “I just enjoy it honestly. I enjoy passing and not getting credit for it if that’s weird. Like I enjoy passing, the guy dunks, the guy lays it up, he flexes in the camera, everybody runs up and gives him the love. But the people that know basketball knew that somebody had to give him that ball, right?"

The former Lakers guard that inspired Russell

“So I always enjoyed that. I always enjoyed the Ginobilis of the game Rondo inspired me to pass. I mean it was just seeing what passing did. I was never fast, so I couldn’t just get the ball up as fast as I could. I could pass and then get it back, so I just ran with that.” Said D'Angelo Russell.
