Last season the Lakers failed to accomplish the ultimate goal after getting swept by the Denver Nuggets in the WCF. One of the players that failed to meet the expectations set on him was D'Angelo Russell, especially after his great close of the regular season.

The Nuggets not only defeated the purple and gold but also were able to win the NBA Finals and became the new champions of the league, and Nikola Jokic became the Finals MVP.

And now it seems not only the NBA thinks he is the best player in the league, but in what it is a low blow to his teammate LeBron James, D'Angelo Russell seems to think Nikola is the best player even over the King.

“Yea, they got the best player in basketball,” Russell said during an appearance on Patrick Beverley’s podcast. “They got the best player in basketball on that team. No disrespect to nobody, he’s the best player in the NBA right now. Not even close.”

The Lakers are looking to win their 18th NBA title

After failing to play the NBA Finals the Lakers are building a strong enough team to contend for next season's championship title in LeBron James year 21 in the league.
