The Lakers' history is so rich that some of the greatest basketball players in NBA history have played for the purple and gold. Some examples are Magic Johnson, Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O'Neal, and in the modern era Anthony Davis and, of course, the current's team biggest star, LeBron James.
But for former Lakers Coach Del Harris, Shaquille O'Neal could have been the best player for the Los Angeles team and the NBA. So if that is true, why didn't it happen that way? Well, Del Harris has the answer to that question.
Hall of Famer Del Harris said that if Shaq had his teammate Kobe Bryant's seriousness, he could have been the best player. This is a bold statement, but coming from someone that knew both players and with his experienced, it is something to think about.
Shaquille O'Neal's sense of humor is one of his trademarks during his all-time career in the NBA as a player, public figure, and sports commentator. O'Neal has never been shy or afraid of the spotlight; maybe that's what made him stay away from becoming the greatest ever.
O'Neal is a winner, and there is no doubt about it, but his mindset has always been different from the rest of the NBA. He recently said that there are categories in the NBA and that the greatest players have their own; he is in one, but he is not the only great in his class; he shares it with Wilt Chamberlain as both are in the category of "the most dominant ever."
