Even when the Olympics is the tournament that Team USA has its sights on when it comes to worldwide competitions, the current group is focused on getting the gold for the FIBA World Cup.

Austin Reaves is the Lakers player who is representing the franchise in the current Team USA, and so far has been a standout, and now a former purple and gold could be seeing him play in the final if the Americans advance to it.

Carmelo Anthony has shared on his social media that he is heading to Manila this week to see who's going to bring home the Naismith Trophy! Carmelo was part of the 2021-22 roster and also was a key piece in Team USA the 'redeem team' from 2008 that took the gold home.

Melo is known to be, hopefully, supporting Team USA in the potential Final. The Americans were able to defeat Italy earlier today and now will be facing the winner between Germany and Latvia to seek their pass to the Finals of the tournament.

Austin Reaves could be facing Dennis Schröder at the FIBA WC semifinals

Austin Reaves and Dennis Schröder were teammates in the Lakers last season and now could face each other in the FIBA WC semifinals if Germany gets the job done vs. Latvia in the quarterfinals. Team USA is looking to get the gold after being eliminated in the 2019 World Cup in the quarterfinals.
