Many believed the Lakers should've kept the 2020 championship team just the way it was built to pursue a back-to-back championship title, but GM Rob Pelinka didn't see it that way and made some moves that others think were an upgrade but injuries prevented the squad to win a second championship on a row.

But for the former Lakers center Dwight Howard, it was simple, just keep the same roster, Pelinka parted ways with the size player and the team wasn't able to repeat the same success of 2020.

Howard has opened up about it and has said "Why didn't the Lakers just bring us back? We just won a [2020] championship... They went and got Marc Gasol and Montrezl Harrell. That was their way of saying, 'we got younger and better at the [center] position.'"

Dwight believes this move was a massive mistake, and despite all of it, and his return for the 2021-22 season, he still wants to come back to LA, as he loves the team and wants to play again alongside Anthony Davis and LeBron James.

Dwight Howard is currently playing in Taiwan

Not only the Lakers didn't keep Dwight Howard, but he didn't find a spot in another NBA team and now has been playing in the Taiwan Basketball team. Howard wants to return to the NBA but is looking that his retirement could be sooner than a comeback to the US
