The Los Angeles Lakers GM Rob Pelinka has extended Anthony Davis for three more years and 186 million. The deal is making the star become the highest-paid NBA star with 62 million per year, even surpassing the 60 the Celtics will pay Jaylen Brown.

The reality is that Anthony Davis is a top 5 player in the NBA, but many believed he has been more time injured than playing and have created the narrative of the Lakers forward being fragile.

Because of that, the two-time NFL Superbowl winner Damien Woody has reacted on ESPN's First take to Anthony Davis' new contract by saying "Is he going to be consistent enough on the court to earn that 62M?"

Injuries have prevented AD to play on his maximum level before, still, he has been able to be a difference-maker in the past for LA, this season the team is looking deeper and stronger since 2020, and Davis could lead once again the franchise to a new championship title.

It's not the first time AD & the Lakers are underestimated

It's crazy how in the last few years, the NBA media and fandom have underestimated the Lakers. Last year alone, no one thought the team was able to make it to the playoffs or have Davis healthy most of the campaign. But Anthony led the team when LeBron was injured and then the team has a good postseason run making it to the Western Conference Finals. Now they have planned to build from that.
