'Here or the Garden,' LeBron James gets brutally honest in his famous quote

In 2018 LeBron James shocked the NBA world when it was announced that he was joining the Lakers in their pursuit of their 17th Championship, but when the time came that James and his former Heat teammate Dwyane Wade were going play their last game facing each other as the Miami legend was retiring.

At the final buzzer of the Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers game in December 2018, James and Wade exchanged pleasantries with one another. It was their final game against each other, as Wade announced at the beginning of the season that the 2018-19 season would be his final year. Cameras and microphones surrounded the two legends. A good chunk of their conversation was heard, especially James’ plan of either going to LA or New York.

"I appreciate you letting it end here," Wade told LeBron, referring to the Staples Center, then the home of the Lakers. "It was either here or at The Garden," James replied, referring to Madison Square Garden, the home of the Knicks. "That’s it. That’s the only place we can end this man."

The truth was that James was not close to signing with the Knicks. Rather, he mentioned The Garden because it’s one of the most historic arenas in the world.
