One of the biggest virtues the LA Lakers have had is the scouting department at the time to find talent in young prospects, especially ones that have gone unnoticed and undrafted.

In the Summer of 2021, when Austin Reaves went undrafted and ultimately joined the Lakers, another undrafted player also joined the Lakers, Mac McClung. Later that year he was waived only to then be signed by the South Bay Lakers.

McClung recently got noticed by many teams in the NBA when he won the 2023 NBA Slam Dunk Contest, and now has given a shot in the league by signing a partially guaranteed deal with the Orlando Magic according to Shams Charania.

This is super exciting for McClung, and hopefully, he can make an impact on the team. It is a partially guaranteed deal with Orlando that allows him a chance to earn a roster spot in training camp.

The type of role McClung could've with Orlando

He played in two NBA games for the Philadelphia 76ers last season, averaging 12.5 points, five rebounds, and 4.5 assists over 20.5 minutes a game. McClung could provide the Magic with a nice spark off the bench or even be an end-of-the-rotation type of player.
