When the Lakers were playing at the Summer League, the GM Rob Pelinka was clear, the team is looking to add another big for a backup center role. They have been actively pursuing and the most current name around LA to sign has been Christian Wood.

Apparently the former Mavs player and now free agent doesn't want to sign for the vet minimum, what the Lakers would be offering as they believe they can make it work with Christian Wood.

Wood has a bad rep, but with LeBron James on the team, a player that has been known to be able to make troubling players work before, Wood could be bringing a good face to the team. Still, nothing has been set in stone yet.

With information via The Atlethics's Jovan Buha, "The big question would be whether the Lakers’ structure — headlined by coach Darvin Ham and James — could keep Wood focused on winning while eliminating some of his bad habits and overcoming some deficiencies. While he’s already played for seven teams, there’s at least some internal optimism that the Lakers could make it work as stop No. 8."

How LeBron James could help the Lakers bring the best out of Wood

LeBron James has certainly gotten some players who were believed to have character concerns to fall in line before. With LeBron and Darvin Ham holding him accountable, along with Anthony Davis whom he has played with before, the Lakers could have the structure in place to keep Wood on the right path.
