One player landed his dream job, but he got punched in the mouth two minutes into the very first day. As crazy as that sounds, that happened in the NBA.

In 1997 Kent Benson was a college basketball star, NCAA champion, and known as a "gentle giant" off the court. So it is crazy to think that the Lakers' showtime legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar once punch him.

The incident started 2 minutes into Benson's first NBA game when Kent threw a dirty elbow to the Lakers legend into Kareem's stomach. Kareem believes that Don Nelson had told Kent to "rough him up."

Kareem retaliated with this infamous sucker punch. The story is controversial as Ken has stated that Abdul-Jabbar was throwing elbows first, but Kareem didn't like Milwaukee, plus Kent Benson was rumored to replace Kareem.

Alongside Magic Johnson, Kareem led the showtime Lakers to greatness and became a team legend. He also holds the most-scored points record 'to this day. LeBron is set to break it later this season.
