It seems that GM Rob Pelinka and head coach Darvin Ham had a specific strategy in mind to replicate what worked for the team in the past, especially in the 2020 championship bubble.

There were some key players that they are currently replacing with younger and even more talented versions from the bubble roster. One Major example is Dwight Howard.

During the Summer League, Pelinka was interviewed and he stated that they signed the center Jaxson Hayes after consulting it with Anthony Davis for both players to have a similar role to the one Dwight Howard and JaVale McGee had respectively.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope was another player that was a great asset for the team and even won another title, this time with the Denver Nuggets. Pelinka and coach Ham have "replaced" him with Taurean Prince as a taller KCP. Prince has never been on a winning enough team or in a long enough playoff run to get that recognition, but he is a similar player, even better than Caldwell-Pope.

What Taurean Prince brings to the Lakers' table

Taurean Prince is great in the art of attacking a close-out. Prince is not a one-dimensional 3&D player. He loves putting the ball on the floor and attacking the rim on hard close-outs. Surprisingly skilled finisher too. People forget he was a #12 Lotto Pick in 2016.
