The Los Angeles Lakers have found success in finding young talent to then trade or sell, becoming one of the best in the league on the perception of prospects.

Austin Reaves is one of the latest success stories, but this has been happening since the Lakers Draft picks from 2014 to the present. The next list is the example of the picks and the current contract they have:

2014: 7 Randle 4/$117M, 2015: 2 Russell 2/$36M, 27 Nance 2/$21, 34 Brown NA, 46 Jordan Clarkson, 4/51.5M. 2016: 2 Ingram 5/$160M, 35 Zubac 3/$33M. 2017: 2 Ball 4/$85M, 27 Kuzma 4/$102M, 30 Hart 4/$81M, 42 Bryant 2/$5.4M. 2018: 25 Wagner 2/$16, 39 Bonga NA, 47 Svi NA. 2019: 46 THT 3/$31M. 2022: 35 Christie (Rookie contract). 2023: 17 Hood-Schifino (rookie contract), 40 Lewis (Rookie contract).

Then add undrafted players Caruso (through OKC) 4/$37 and Reaves 4/$56. Max Christie can get paid next summer. Summer League standouts Colin Castleton and D'Moi Hodge are on 2-way deals. Lakers' scouting has been rising. It pays good money to be a Laker.

Lonzo Ball wonders how the 2019 Lakers season would've turned out without injuries

“I mean you could just tell, obviously with Bron in the gym it’s just a different feel just off that. But way more attention to detail, like our practices were way different. It was just literally night and day and I really wish we could’ve seen what could’ve happened that second year, but everybody went down starting with Bron first and then me, then B.I., Rondo like our whole team got hurt.” Said Ball in a recent interview.
