The Los Angeles Lakers spent ten years from 2010 to 2020 without winning an NBA championship title, it all changed thanks to LeBron James and Anthony Davis as they led the team to win at the bubble.
Jeanie Buss has spoken about how playing for the Lakers is not easy and not for everyone: “Playing for the Lakers isn’t for everybody. But the ones that can make it here can make it everywhere. There’s something about our fanbase that brings out your best, holds you accountable, and you wanna please and work hard — they’ll reward you.”
This is why she thinks LeBron James and Anthony Davis are now part of Lakers history and will stand out in the franchise for winning in the bubble. “There’s the LeBron era. Won a championship during Covid. Can’t make this stuff up. […] It’s hard to play for the Lakers.”
Buss also believes that Anthony Davis was the best player of last season's championship “There’s an argument to be made that he [Anthony Davis] was the best player in the NBA when he was playing.”
In a surprising move, the Lakers are already looking at the face of the franchise in the post-LeBron James era with Anthony Davis after extending him for three years and 186 million.
