After an early free agency market move by GM Rob Pelinka that had most of their signings done, the 14th and potentially final roster spot is reserved for a big center that the team is still looking to sign.

We are getting closer to a new NBA season, training camp is coming quickly and the Lakers have some center options at the free agency market but are still waiting, as some players continue to be waived, that's the case of a former Lakers champion that just became a free agent.

It's official, with information via the NBA insider Shams Charania, that the Dallas Mavericks have waived the big center JaVale McGee. McGee won a championship title with LA in the 2020 bubble and made a great big duo with Dwight Howard.

Having a past with the purple and gold, the rumors were fast to link the big center with the Lakers, especially as the team is looking for a big center backup for Anthony Davis. GM Rob Pelinka could bring back McGee to close the team's roster for the next season.

The Lakers have two options before going after JaVale McGee

As recently reported by NBA insider Jovan Buha, the two top options for center in the Lakers are Christian Wood and Bismack Biyombo. Pelinka is waiting for Wood's answer, if he doesn't sign, the next in the line is Biyombo. If the purple and gold can't get Bismack, then they could bring back McGee.
