The story about the Lakers trying to reunite LeBron James and Kyrie Irving isn't new. The Lakers tried to send Russell Westbrook and two first-round picks in exchange for the all-star player. But in the end, the Brooklyn Nets decided not to trade him. Despite not being teammates, LeBron James still decided to give Irving some high praise.
LeBron James and Kyrie Irving played together when the ‘King’ decided to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers after some time in the Miami Heat. Irving was drafted by the Cavs in 2011, despite already being an all-star player, he wasn't able to take the team to the next step. Once LeBron came back, the team reach two Finals and won one. Then Irving left to join the Celtics in 2017.

Huge shot towards Russell Westbrook's 'consistency' last season
Kyrie Irving explained that he felt uncountable playing with stars like LeBron James and Kevin Durant as he had to upgrade his game. “Playing with ‘Bron and playing with KD, within our culture, they are true icons, but I had to fill in those shoes that were very uncomfortable for me," explained Irving on Uninterrupted.
LeBron James decided to compliment his former teammate after those comments via social media. "He's truly so misunderstood! I love seeing his growth as well throughout the years! Always believed and knew he was so much more and deeper than just a phenomenal basketball player!"
Despite the Lakers losing out on the chance in trading for Kyrie Irving during this offseason, there are still some people inside the Lakers organization that believe the team can still land the seven-time all-star player mid-season or in the next off-season.
