Just when everything was starting to finally settle for the Lakers and begin on the proper step the next season and forget about last year's disaster, the superstar of the LA franchise got himself in trouble.
Right after the stars were aligning for the Lakers with Russell Westbrook making amends and getting support from his teammates LeBron James and Patrick Beverley, a surprising news turn of events could shatter Lakers fans' hopes for the next season. As the purple and gold biggest star, LeBron James got sued for $10 million.
While money is no problem, billionaire NBA star LeBron James for now, this recent news could hurt his image on different levels. Billy Hunter, former head of the MBA Players association and ex-federal prosecutor, is seeking a share of profits from the documentary "Black Ice" about the old, segregated hockey league for black players in Canada
Lakers player and star LeBron James is an executive producer of the film alongside rappers Drake and Future. Hunter alleges he holds the exclusive legal rights to produce any movie about the colored Hockey League from 1895 to the 1930s.
Billy Hunter accuses LeBron James and the singers of cutting a deal behind his back. And now is suing to seek a share of profits from the documentary as well as $10 million in damages. LeBron James entertainment companies are involved in the deal but have claimed that the documentary doesn't violate Hunter's "exclusive worldwide license".So for LeBron's and Laker's sake, hopes are of a fast settlement.
