The LA Lakers GM Rob Pelinka has done a great job this offseason assembling the team's roster for the next season and for the future, it seems that the post-LeBron James era is closer than expected.

That seems to be Anthony Davis' master plan with the current extension, as Pelinka has said the star is looking forward to leading the team for many years to come.

“In our conversations with Anthony, his desire to lead our franchise for the next several years became abundantly clear,” Pelinka said. “AD understands that his commitment to being the hardest worker, combined with his high character, is what will help define our culture for many seasons to come. It is a proud day for Lakers Nation when we’re able to extend the contract of one of the game’s most dominant two-way players.”

The Lakers have now a strong number of talented rookies and a great mix of experienced and depth that will help the team to contend with Davis at the lead and role players like Austin Reaves and Rui Hachimura.

The Lakers are betting on continuity for the following seasons

Unlike what the team did after the 2020 championship title, Pelinka talked about valuing roster continuity coming into the offseason. It was something the Lakers lacked the last two seasons but with Austin Reaves, D’Angelo Russell, Rui Hachimura and now Davis all signing contracts, they finally have some.
