The Los Angeles Lakers are in a completely different situation from the one they were in the last summer, where things were looking grim after the disastrous outcome of the 2021-22 season.
This offseason, the team overcame many problems and made it into the WCF; Pelinka and Ham kept the core of players and signed some interesting pieces to contend for the NBA championship title.
The rookie Max Christie is about to start his year 2 in the NBA and is looking to earn a spot in coach Ham's team rotation. He had an outstanding participation in the Summer League, and everything points out that he has earned that opportunity.
"(The Lakers) have been in contact all along, of course," Christie said. "They let me know what is expected, and I am just trying to deliver on that, or do more, exceed it. I feel a lot more comfortable, feel a lot more confident out here, just having the ball in my hands and being able to just play my game," he said. "And so it's kind of crazy what one year can do for you, one year of experience."
Christie looks like he will be given a chance within the rotation after his growth. He is the perfect type of player that can help this Lakers team find success around LeBron James and Anthony Davis. His three-and-D skillset is what this team needs, and Christie could find himself being placed into big spots next season if all goes well for him.
