The LA Lakers got the center they have been looking for Christian Wood with a two-year 5.7 million contract, which is a great bet for one of the best offensive big men in the league, but that's not without its risks.

But now has been revealed, that a center was requested by someone inside the Lakers roster and not coach Darvin Ham specifically. The Laker who wanted more help at center, as Anthony Davis is a Powerful Forward mainly and he didn't want to play so much 5 during the regular season.

With information via ESPN's David McMenamin: “Sources told ESPN that Davis made it clear to the organization he wanted to have more support at the center so he wouldn’t have to play so much 5 during the regular season."

The Lakers center to help Anthony Davis at center

Jaxson Hayes and Christian Wood will have the duty to help Anthony Davis in the center role, also rookie Colin Castleton will be available if needed, even when he isn't entirely NBA-ready yet. The three players should take some pressure off of Davis down low, which could help the Lakers star stay healthy in the regular season. If Davis doesn’t have to bang with centers on the defensive end regularly, it should be beneficial for his long-term health.
