The Lakers fans are hyped after what the front office led by GM Rob Pelinka has been able to do through the signings done in the offseason, thanks to the free agency market, the 2023 NBA Draft, and later the extension of Anthony Davis.

Without hesitation, the Lakers have done their movements, showing they have planned the next season and being true to their word of building from the core of the last campaign's roster.

But for James Worthy, the GM Rob Pelinka himself, and other NBA analysts, Anthony Davis needs to lead the team and show what he is capable of.

Worthy said on Spectrum SportsNet "With LeBron out of the picture, I think AD’s the guy and I think he will step up and answer the call.” James said about Davis taking the mantle once James retires, but the reality is that he has to start doing it in the next season.

LeBron James doesn't plan to retire anytime soon

Despite the narrative that says that LeBron is retiring in the next couple of years, the star has openly said he still has a lot to give to the sport, and former teammates like Dennis Schröder have said that LeBron plans to play at least until he turns 45 years old.
