After the Lakers had a rocky start in the previous season with a weak roster and a 2-10 record, the GM Rob Pelinka pulled off several miraculous moves ahead of the trade deadline that completely changed the chemistry and culture of the roster to make it into the Western Conference Finals.

Pelinka made some magic but didn't stop there, he then decided, alongside coach Darvin Ham to bring back the core group of that playoffs and build from that in the summer.

In this free agency market, the GM did what many NBA analysts called it, won the offseason by having possibly the best moves out of all the teams in the league without big names but going for depth like Gabe Vincent, Cam Reddish, Taurean Prince and Jaxson Hayes.

After those impressive moves, former Lakers President of Basketball Operations and showtime era legend Magic Johnson said that Pelinka deserves the NBA Executive of the Year award, but at Yahoo! Sports doesn't agree.

The disrespect from Yahoo! Sports to GM Rob Pelinka

The Yahoo! Sports staff have released their top executives in the NBA: 1. Danny Ainge 2. Masai Ujiri 3. Brian Wright 4. James Jones 5. Kevin Pritchard 6. Pat Riley 7. Troy Weaver 8. Koby Altman 9. Brad Stevens 10. Zach Kleiman, but the notable absence is Rob Pelinka, who has been one of the best in the last year but doesn't get credit enough.
