Austin Reaves has fallen short for the second time in a row to make it to the finals, first with the Lakers as they were swept by the Denver Nuggets, and now at the FIBA World Cup with Team USA as they fell short to Germany.

In the previous days before the semifinal contest, Austin Reaves revealed that his former Lakers teammate Dennis Schröder tried to recruit him to play for Germany in this competition, as the Laker has dual citizenship.

Now that Shcröder and Germany are going to be contending for the gold vs. Serbia, Austin could be regretting choosing Team USA instead of Germany, as he would be close to winning the gold if had accepted Dennis Schröder's invitation. In the end, Reaves made the right call to play with the Americans as he showed all his A-game and was the second-best player of the game for the U.S. only behind Anthony Edwards.

Team USA has lost to Germany, and Reaves is getting most of the blame, even when he came off the bench.

The starting lineup didn't live up to their expectation

Team USA didn't get to recover the two double-digit deficits compared to previous games as it was made evident that the Americans starting unit was a problem for day 1 and that trend continued here. Put them in a hole at the beginning of the first and 3rd; this time it burned them despite all Reaves' efforts to help by scoring 21 points by coming off the bench.
