With the Los Angeles Lakers actively looking to add a center, GM Rob Pelinka has some options for the position, but Christian Wood remains the number one option.
The problem is that LA has offered Wood the vet min, and it seems that Christian believes he can get a better deal and have a bigger role with the Miami Heat instead.
If Wood rejects the Lakers offer, Pelinka has a plan B according to NBA insider Jovan Buha, Bismack Biyombo. Biyombo will automatically become the top option if Christian is out of the picture.
Christian is the top choice because of his offensive game, but Bismack Biyombo fits the plan Pelinka and Ham have for the team in the next campaign. The Lakers want to play with two bigs, just like it worked for them in 2020.
The two-way signed contract rookie Colin Castleton could earn the 14th spot at training camp, in case Wood and Biyombo don't cut. After Castleton, Wenyen Gabriel and Tristan Thompson are still free agents and one of them could make a surprising return.
