After the signing of the big center Christian Wood, the LA Lakers team is set to start training camp, and we are excited with how GM Rob Pelinka was able to build the team's roster, having enough depth and talent in each position.

The Lakers not only kept the core of last season's team but also pulled off some interesting acquisitions with Gabe Vincent, Taurean Prince, Cam Reddish, Jaxson Hayes, and finally Christian Wood.

Pelinka also was able to re-sign to bring back Austin Reaves, Rui Hachimura, and D'Angelo Russell. But the Lakers front office also made some great picks in the 2023 NBA Draft with their No. 17 selection of Jalen Hood-Schifino and the No. 40 pick of Maxwell Lewis, plus the two-way deal signings of the undrafted rookies Colin Castleton, Alex Fudge, and D'Moi Hodge.

All these new acquisitions join the already-on team LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Max Christie, and Jarred Vanderbilt. With that in mind, Coach Ham has a lot of talent and the right combination of young and experienced players.

The Los Angeles Lakers projected depth chart

With the recent reports by NBA insider Jovan Buha, coach Ham's depth chart will be something like this: In the PG position, D'Angelo Russell will be the starter with the first option of bench Gabe Vincent and the 2nd option the rookie Jalen Hood-Schifino. In the SG role, the starter will be Austin Reaves with first option Max Christie and second bench option Maxwell Lewis. In the SF position, the starter is Rui Hachimura and the first and second options are Taurean Prince and Cam Reddish respectively. In the PF position, LeBron James is the starter with Jarred Vanderbilt being his substitute, and at the Center role, Anthony Davis will remain the starter with Christian Wood and Jaxson Hayes as their bench substitutes.
