Early this offseason, the 2023 NBA Draft was held, and the Lakers had two picks, the No. 17 and the No. 40, GM Rob Pelinka got use of them and selected first Jalen Hood-Schifino and then, with their 40th pick, the young talented Maxwell Lewis.

But, with the Lakers' No. 17 pick of Jalen Hood-Schifino, the fans were disappointed, as they wanted another rookie to be selected: Cam Whitmore. Whitmore is a young talent that was expected to be selected way earlier in the draft, at first it was predicted to go at No. 8, but the Houston Rockets selected him with their No. 20 pick.

Whitmore is set to be one of the best rookies this year, and the Lakers Nation wanted him, so were disappointed that Pelinka chose Hood-Schifino instead. Information later revealed that Whitmore had suffered an injury that made several teams skip picking him, the reason why he fell to the no. 20 selection.

But the purple and gold fans could be more disappointed now, as Cam has revealed the Lakers superstar LeBron James to be his biggest inspiration in the sport.

Cam Whitmore's biggest inspiration in the league is LeBron James

“Biggest inspiration is probably, I’ll say LeBron. Just how he’s just being himself on and off the court, I mean from the beginning. How you know had all that hype, didn’t really care about it, and just kept, you know the main focus, the main goal. Up to now, just still has all the hype, remains humble, takes care of his stuff off the floor and still bouncing back at the end of the day and still playing as a 38-year-old man. Still running up with the young guys, so it's just surreal to see, somebody that you just have to notice and look up to.” Said Cam Whitmore, the new Houston Rockets rookie.
