The Lakers have been interested in trading Russell Westbrook since the end of last season. So far, no team has been willing to accept a direct trade for Russell Westbrook as he has an expensive contract and his downplay during last season might scare teams away too. According to reports, Rob Pelinka has been in touch with at least five teams in regards to a possible Russell Westbrook trade.

The Lakers general manager has been in touch with the Pacers as they want to trade Russell Westbrook in exchange for Myles Turner and Buddy Hield. But Indiana will only accept this trade if the Lakers are willing to add their two first round picks too. Something that Pelinka was only willing to surrender for Kyrie Irving.

It's not going to be easy to trade Russell Westbrook to the Jazz

This is what it's needed to hit a 3-pointer over LeBron James

Of course, we also know that the Lakers have been in contact with the Brooklyn Nets as Russell Westbrook was a part of the offer for Kyrie Irving but that didn't happen. The Jazz is another team that was interested, but after trading Donovan Mitchell to the Cleveland Cavaliers, it seems they are out on a trade too.

Finally, according to Hoops Wire, there are two other teams that have been part of a discussion for a Russell Westbrook trade. The report didn't reveal who those teams were, but that indicates that Rob Pelinka is still trying to move Russell Westbrook before the start of training camp, or maybe once the season starts.

Will the Lakers trade Russell Westbrook?

Russell Westbrook's value has been going downwards since the start of the offseason. It seems that the Lakers' need for a trade has made teams ask for more than just the player. In the end, Westbrook might play another year or half a year with the Lakers.
