The Lakers player signing that ESPN's Richard Jefferson thinks was a 'steal'

The Los Angeles Lakers GM Rob Pelinka had a plan for the offseason and was able to execute it in the first days of the free agency market by re-signing their top priorities, Rui Hachimura, Austin Reaves, and especially after a lot of speculation, D'Angelo Russell.

After a lot of rumors that had the Lakers planning to offer a max-extension after D-Lo's regular season performances but then thinking of trading him, or having a sign and trade after his disappointing postseason run, specifically his games vs. the Denver Nuggets, Pelinka re-signed him for two years and 37 million.

For ESPN's analyst Richard Jefferson, the Lakers still got a 'steal,' as he believes that what D'Angelo Russell brings to the team is more valuable than what the organization is going to pay.

"They got him for a discount," said Jefferson of the Lakers re-signing D-Lo for 18.5 million per year. Russell has to demonstrate he wants to stay in LA and has what it takes for the team to transcend in the playoffs.
