The Lakers have desperately tried to upgrade their roster during this off-season. However, so far they haven't made many movements that put them as contenders for the championship. True, they traded for Patrick Beverley, which is a good move as he will help the defensive side of the ball. But that's about it. Now, with training camp less than a month away, the Lakers shouldn't hurry into making a trade.

According to NBA analyst Dan Woike, the Lakers should move on with the roster they currently have. According to Woike, there's not a trade that the team can do this month that would make them contenders for the title.

Interesting comparison between the Lakers and this NFL team

LeBron James might not be as good as Giannis Antetokounmpo

"The argument for that, of course, is if the Lakers can’t build into a true contender via trade this month, wait and handle it down the road either through free agency or future trades. A bad deal now that forces them to offload one or two future firsts wouldn’t dramatically raise the ceiling on this year’s team and handcuff them even more down the road, sort of a worst-case scenario for the organization," explained Dan Woike from Los Angeles Times.

Donovan Mitchell was recently traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers, so a movement for the all-star is now out of the question. Myles Turner and Buddy Hield are still a possible trade, but it seems that the Lakers front office is not willing to surrender their two first-round picks.

Lakers possible moves

After being out on Donovan Mitchell it seems that the Lakers have fallen to only two options. They can either trade for the Pacers duo or trade for Cam Reddish. The first option sounds like a move that would make them contenders.
