The Los Angeles Lakers made a trade for Rui Hachimura, and he made his debut this Wednesday wearing the No. 28 on his jersey, but there is a genuine reason why he likes to sport the No. 8.
Rui Hachimura told Spectrum Sports Net in an interview that he chose No. 8 partly because he was a Kobe fan growing up and because part of his name means 8 in Japanese. With Kobe's No. 8 retired, Hachimura will wear 28 as a Laker.
With the No. 8 having a lot of great history with the team, no doubt he will give the best of luck to Hachimura in his adventure with Los Angeles.
The fans are excited about his signing, as they were waiting to have a good wing just like him, and he became the better option over the long-rumored NY Knicks star, Cam Reddish.
The good news continues as Hachimura won't be the only new player in Los Angeles; according to GM Rob Pelinka, at least another trade is coming before the deadline. Exciting news and the season can be saved with Anthony Davis' return.
