The Purple and Gold have a date with history tonight where they will be looking to close out the series against the Golden State Warriors tonight in Game 5 after leading 3-1.
But this scenario seemed pretty impossible at the start of the season, as the campaign star with a franchise history low record of 2-10. Still, the team turned things around, especially after the trade deadline when GM Rob Pelinka moved out six players and signed six new ones for the roster.
Russell Westbrook, Patrick Beverley, Kendrick Nunn, Thomas Bryant, Juan Toscano-Anderson, and Damian Jones left Los Angeles, and D'Angelo Russell, Malik Beasley, Jarred Vanderbilt, Rui Hachimura, Mo Bamba, and Devon Reed arrived (who was later waived).
Since GM Rob Pelinka pulled off those trades, the team has a record of 26-12, which is pretty impressive, and now at the playoffs, they have a 5-0 record at home and looking to advance to the West Conference finals.
So far, the 2023 playoffs have been great for the Lakers; LeBron James and Anthony Davis have the most PTS + REB + AST with 380 each. The next is D'Angelo Russell with 244 and Austin Reaves with 233.
