The longtime offseason saga between the Lakers and Christian Wood has concluded with the best possible scenario for the purple and gold after the big center agreed to sign a two-year deal.

The Lakers targeted Wood as soon as it became clear he’d potentially be available at the league minimum, and with two current members of the Lakers having a past with the big man, helped to make the deal happen.

Anthony Davis and Christian Wood played together in the New Orleans Pelicans, so both big men have a past and chemistry that will be helpful in the upcoming season.

But not only AD, coach Darvin Ham also has worked with Christian Wood which will also be helpful and is part of the reason why GM Rob Pelinka decided to sign the center despite his bad rep on the league.

The Lakers believe they can make Christian Wood work

Christian Wood will help the team's frontcourt, especially when Anthony Davis isn't around the court. The Lakers think they can make the big work despite his lack of defensive skills and his bad rep for being hard to work with. But Anthony Davis and coach Ham having a history with Wood helped to make the decision.
