Christian Wood has been the name for the Lakers at the top of their list to sign in the current free agency market, as they want to add a backup center to fill the last and 14th spot roster ahead of the 2023-24 season.

A recent report by The Athletic's Jovan Buha has the center Christian Wood wanting to have a bigger role by being signed by the Miami Heat as the Lakers are willing to sign him for the vet minimum and make him the backup center for Anthony Davis.

But not only the Miami Heat could steal Wood from the Lakers, but the Chicago Bulls are also reported to have been interested in the center after the NBA helped gave them because of the Lonzo Ball situation.

In case Christian Wood decides to pass on the Lakers' offer and goes to another team, the GM Rob Pelinka has in Bismack Biyombo the Plan B for the backup center role.

The Lakers plan C in case they can't land Wood or Biyombo

In case neither of the two top options is available for the Lakers to sign, or the centers reject the team, the two-way contract rookie Colin Castleton could have the opportunity of signing a standard deal and become the 14th Laker and the backup for AD, especially after what he showed in the last Summer League.
