Only two players remain from the roster that gave the Lakers last championship

Three seasons have passed since the last time the Lakers were able to win a Championship, it wasn't that long ago, but for a franchise with the caliber of Los Angeles, every year should be a severe contender at winning the NBA's title.

2020 was the first campaign for LeBron James with the purple and gold, and what a first season for the superstar it was, winning the finals and bringing the top prize home. But after that, the Lakers haven't been able to replicate that success.

Paying attention to the difference between the current roster for the 2022-2023 season and the 2019-2020 winner one is crazy to see that only two players remain playing for the Lakers. Those players are no other than the superstars LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

It is hard to understand why the Laker's front office made drastic changes to their roster after winning the title. But, as the saying goes, if it is not broken, why fix it, and the LA franchise did precisely that and now is paying the consequences. But the good news for the Lakers is that a new season means a unique opportunity. Now they are trying to build a competitive team with a severe chance of winning another championship led by their most prominent star of the moment, LeBron James.

The Laker's biggest mistake in the 2021-2022 season

After the Lakers won the 2020 championship and started to change their roster, in 2021, LA decided to bet on a trio of superstars signing Russell Westbrook to play alongside already established LeBron James and Anthony Davis. But after failing, now the front office is looking to fix their mistake and is looking to trade Westbrook. Unfortunately, to this moment, they haven't succeeded and are contemplating giving the big three another opportunity.
