Carmelo Anthony is one of the best players of his generation. His stats speak for themselves. He's a ten-time All-Star, six-time All-NBA forward, the 2012-13 NBA Scoring Champion and a member of the NBA’s 75th Anniversary team. Still, as for right now, he doesn't have a team to play with in the upcoming season.

Last year he showed that even if he's no longer in his prime, he still can be a very serviceable player. As a Lakers player, he averaged 13.3 points, 4.2 rebounds and shot 44.1% from the floor, 37.5% from three-point. He was also the team's highest-graded defender with a 114 rating. The Lakers should be one of the teams that try to sing the player once again.

The Lakers are considering bringing back Dennis Schrörder

If the Lakers decide not to go and get Melo once again, there are other teams that could add him to their roster, according to NBA analyst Brett Siegel. The Knick could be a landing spot for the all-star. New York could make Melo play as a wing.  He could return to the team where he found the most success and to his hometown. It is a long-shot but it could be a good way to retire.

Finally, the Brooklyn Nets might be another team that at least should consider adding a veteran player. With the return of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, this team only needs a couple more players to have a great roster from top to bottom. Melo could help on the defensive side of the ball, while  also being a rebounder off-the-bench.

Should the Lakers sign Carmelo Anthony?

Anthony proved his worth last season. Unlike LeBron James and Anthony Davis, he stayed healthy for most of the season. True, he can no longer carry a team to the playoffs, but he was brought to be a role player. He helped the team on defense where they had huge issues. The Lakers have changed their veterans for young talent, but Melo is a player that can't be overlooked.
