The Los Angeles Lakers are making the official announcements of his offseason signings today. Pelinka has stated that he was signed to have a role similar to the one Dwight Howard had in the 2020 campaign.
Howard wanted to stay in LA after winning the 2020 championship, but the team let him go, then returned for the 2021-22 campaign. Still, that season was a complete mess for the team, and after not being able to find a new NBA team to play with, he signed to play in the Taiwan Basketball League.
Today, the Lakers have announced that the young center Jaxson Hayes has officially signed with the team, the player that Pelinka wants to replace the role that Howard had.
It now has been revealed by Hayes himself that he does get inspired by Howard's game as he said, "I've watched a lot of Dwight Howard, McGee, Drummond, and Deandre Jordan Films. I'm taking some parts of their games."
Jaxson Hayes on joining the Lakers: "Surreal to join the Lakers. I have been a huge Kobe Bryant and Lebron James fan since I grew up in Ohio. It's going to be fun. The lobs I can get from LeBron, I know DLo is still there now. It's just going to be a fun time with those guys."
