Rumors were strong as soon as the Phoenix Suns revealed their intentions on making a trade or waiving the 38-year-old vet PG Chris Paul that suggested the Lakers will be going to pursue the experienced player.
Then it was reported that inside the Lakers organization, the possibility of pursuing signing Chris Paul; they wanted the vet PG but were willing to pay him the vet minimum if he got waived.
But then the Suns traded CP3 for Bradley Beal to the Washington Wizards, team that then apparently negotiated with the Golden State Warriors for a trade that includes Jordan Poole and a couple of draft picks for Chris Paul.
So, Chris' final decision is that he will be playing alongside Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson next season instead of pursuing a championship title with LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
Instead of going with experienced vets like Chris Paul, as he would've been the second 38 years old player on the roster because LeBron James is the first, Pelinka has decided to start thinking about the future of the franchise. In yesterday's NBA Draft 2023, he used LA's two picks and even signed three undrafted players to see in the Summer League and training camp.
