LeBron James is by far the best player on the Los Angeles Lakers roster. After a week's discussion, the all-star player and the team front office finally agreed to an extension that will keep James for two more years. The deal will also give LeBron James $97 million, which will make him the highest-earning player in NBA history.

Darvin Ham is entering his first year as head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers. This will be his first time as a head coach in the NBA as he had only been an assistant coach in the past. Now he is grateful that he can have a generational player like LeBron James in the team for his first campaign.

Former NBA player gives his input in the GOAT debate

“It’s huge. LeBron is a once-in-a-lifetime player. You only get so many players. Not even so many. You have Bill Russell, you have Wilt Chamberlain, you have Dr. J, you have Moses Malone, you had Larry Bird, Magic [Johnson], you had [Michael] Jordan, you had Allen Iverson, Shaq [O’Neal], Kobe [Bryant], and now it’s LeBron’s time,” explained the coach in an interview for clutchpoints.

Ham continued, arguing that James might end up being the best player ever when it's all said and done. “It’s a once-in-a-lifetime type player that’s gonna be mentioned by the greats and mentioned as THE greatest. The things that he was facing coming out of high school and things he had to endure and conquer. He’s passed all tests with flying colors.”

Can LeBron and Darvin Ham reach the Playoffs?

It will be hard that, as a first year coach, Ham can lead the Lakers to the playoffs. It will all depend on the players that he will have for the season. LeBron James will be a key part, but he has to remain healthy.
