LeBron James is on his way to surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the all-time leader scorer in the upcoming season. Many players, former and current, have argued that once LeBron James achieves this record, there will be no doubt that he is the Greatest Of All time. But according to former NBA player Jalen Rose, Michael Jordan will still be above James.

“When you talk about the best players of all time, you ultimately start talking about who’s the G.O.A.T.,” Rose said. “And when you talk about G.O.A.T., the first word is ‘greatest.’ That means achieved more than somebody else. And if we’re comparing Michael Jordan and LeBron, for example, Michael Jordan got 10 scoring titles. LeBron has one. Michael Jordan has been Defensive Player of the Year in the NBA. LeBron hasn’t," explained Rose.

LeBron James should receive Tom Brady's treatment, according to analyst

LeBron James has already surpassed Michael Jordan in points scored and has more individual records both in the regular season and in the playoffs. However, Jordan has two more championships than LeBron has won so far, and one more MVP award. The debate can be done for either players, but for Rose there's no debate.

Jalen Rose, also included team achievements in the reasons why he believes Jordan is the GOAT. “Michael Jordan has two separate three-peats,” Rose said. “LeBron doesn’t have a three-peat. … And so, you don’t necessarily even need to watch them play to acknowledge that what Michael Jordan achieved just solely on the court is greater.”

What needs LeBron James to surpass Michael Jordan?

LeBron James will undoubtedly surpass Jordan in all major individual categories. However, James will have to win another championship and be Finals MVP, and win another regular season MVP, so that there is no doubt he is better than Jordan.
