The Los Angeles Lakers are the most popular and polarizing players in the whole NBA. Despite not being the most attractive team to watch in the past couple of years, they still top the charts in merchandise sales. The Purple and Gold are still one of the teams that moved to the NBA. According to Lakers owner Jeanie Buss, she is the right person to own the Lakers.

During an interview for GQ, Jeanie Buss explained the success she had as the owner of the team, “In the 10 years, I think they would say I’ve been a good steward of the brand. I’ve protected the shareholders. We won a championship and are now tied with the Celtics in terms of titles. So, I think they would say that I was the right person for the job and that’s what my dad had intended.”

The owner continued explaining that the growth of the value of the team shows how good of a job she has done. "When my father passed away, the Lakers' value would have probably been pegged between $1.5 billion and, you know, we hadn’t yet sold the Clippers to Steve Ballmer for $2 billion. And, now, the Forbes valuation has our team worth over $5 billion.

The Lakers have gone through one of the worst moments of their history. True, they have already won a championship for the 2020 season. However, that looks more like an anomaly than the reality, the team has been more in the bottom of the league than in the top.

The Lakers are a top team in the League?

Since LeBron James joined the Lakers, the team has grown in popularity. However, they are not a competitive team right now. They have to make a lot of moves if they want to win another championship. If not, they'll miss the playoffs once again.
